Teacher Application Form

PALS is a large-scale, randomized control trial (RCT) study of the MathSpring learning environment. It is funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, which is part of the U.S. Department of Education. Fifth and sixth grade teachers across New England will participate in the study by using MathSpring in their classrooms and supporting researchers in their evaluation of the system's efficacy. Participation in the study requires that you understand and agree to the following requirements. Please read the following statements and indicate whether you agree by checking Yes or No.

I understand and agree to the following participation requirements:

I am willing to participate in the PAL study for the 2022-23 school year.
To be eligible for participate in the study I cannot be currently using MathSpring regularly with students.
I will be randomly assigned to either the immediate use or delayed use group.
If assigned to the immediate use group, I will commit to using MathSpring with students in my math classes for at least 30 minutes every other week during the 2022-23 school year.
If assigned to the delayed use group, I will receive access to MathSpring and training beginning in the Summer of 2022.
To the extent possible, if I am in the immediate use group, I will commit to participating in professional learning before and/or during the school year. This may include release time (if needed, with the grant paying for substitutes).
Regardless of my assigned group I am willing to participate in the study's data collection activities. These include participating in interviews and classroom observations, completing online instructional logs and surveys, and helping to administer surveys to students.
Regardless of assignment, I will receive a stipend that compensates me for my time.
I am a 5th or 6th grade math teacher or planning to be a 5th or 6th grade math teacher for the 2022-23 school year.
To the best of my knowledge, my school annually administers the MCAS/NHSAS/RICAS testing.
